CantiereCam is an app for photographing and documenting construction sites, developed by Antonio Demarcus (Italy), contact: cantierecam.app@gmail.com.
In short: your photos, documents, notes and projects stay on your phone and, if you connect it, on your own Google Drive. The developer has no servers of its own and does not receive, see or sell your data: it only receives anonymous app error reports and, unless you turn them off, anonymous usage statistics (ยง3b).
1. Data the app handles and where it stays
| Data | Why | Where it stays |
|---|---|---|
| Photos, scanned documents, drawings on photos | the app's content | phone storage (Documents/CantiereCam folder) |
| Location (GPS), compass direction, altitude | photo stamp, EXIF data, site CSV files | inside the photos and files on the phone |
| Voice recordings and their text | voice notes on photos, diary and notes | phone storage |
| Projects, sites, notes, tags, diary, supplier names, text read from documents (OCR) | organising the work | app database and CSV/PDF/Word/Excel files on the phone |
| Name of the person taking photos, company name, logo | stamp, PDF, CSV | app settings on the phone |
| Google account email (only if you enable Google Drive) | knowing which Drive to upload to | app settings on the phone |
2. Google Drive (optional). If enabled, the app uploads photos and files to your Google Drive, in a "CantiereCam" folder. The app only requests the drive.file permission: it sees only the files it creates, not the rest of your Drive. You can revoke access at any time from your Google account (Security โ Third-party apps).
3. Google services used on the phone. Some features use services provided by Google on your phone, governed by Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy):
3b. Errors and usage statistics (Firebase, from version 2.86.0). To fix bugs and know how many people use it, the app uses two Google Firebase services:
Both use a random installation identifier, not the advertising ID and not your name or account. They never send photos, documents, notes, names of projects, sites or suppliers, or your GPS location. The data is processed by Google (Google Ireland Ltd) on behalf of the developer, kept for up to 90 days (Crashlytics) and 14 months (Analytics), and is not used for advertising (firebase.google.com/support/privacy).
3c. Trial and licences (from version 2.91.0). So that the free trial lasts the same number of days even if the app is uninstalled and reinstalled, and so that a licence works on one phone only, the app stores in Google Cloud Firestore (the developer's project, servers in Europe) a fingerprint of the phone: a code computed from the phone's Android identifier (SHA-256), from which neither the phone nor you can be traced. Together with the fingerprint it stores only the trial start date and, if you activate a licence, which licence it is bound to and when you activated it. The app signs in to Firestore with an anonymous Firebase sign-in, with no account and without your name. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for and preventing abuse (legitimate interest). The data is kept as long as the trial or licence exists; you can ask for it to be deleted at cantierecam.app@gmail.com.
4. What the app does NOT do. No advertising, no profiling, no selling or sharing of data, no developer-owned servers, no account to create.
5. Sending the log (optional). In Settings โ Information you can email the developer a file with the phone model, Android version, app settings and operation log, to help fix bugs. It contains no photos, notes or documents. Only you send it, with your own email app, and you can see what you send.
6. Permissions. Camera (taking photos), microphone (voice notes), location (stamp and coordinates; optional), photos (showing archive photos), notifications and exact alarms (note reminders at the chosen time), phone start-up (restoring reminders after a restart), internet (Google Drive).
7. Retention and deletion. Data stays as long as you keep it. You can delete it in the app (photos, sites, projects, "Reset everything"), by uninstalling the app (photos in the Documents/CantiereCam folder remain until you delete them) and from your Google Drive.
8. Children. The app is intended for adult professionals and is not directed at children under 16.
9. Your rights. Since the data is on your phone and your Drive, you control it directly. For any question or request (GDPR, Art. 15โ22) write to cantierecam.app@gmail.com. You may also contact your data protection authority.
10. Changes. If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with the updated date.
